Bill Scott will make a great Mayor of West Chester. His knowledge and experience with issues such as smart planning, environmental protection and historic preservation will make him an excellent leader for the citizens of West Chester.
I look forward to working with local leaders like Bill to continue to protect and improve the quality of life we enjoy here in Chester County.
Kathi Cozzone, Chester County Commissioner
04/01/2009, Stephanie Phillips Markstein, Borough of West Chester Vice Chair, West Chester Democratic Committee:
Bill Scott was Chair of the West Chester Democratic Committee when I became involved in WC politics. He reached out to me at the first meeting I attended, and we have been good friends ever since.
I can think of no other person in this community who has a bigger heart and who is a more consistent advocate for our great borough.
Bill is always at the center of issues that are important to West Chester, and I believe his strong and passionate leadership would translate into the best mayor West Chester could ever have.

03/29/2009, James A. Salvas, Borough of West Chester Retired Business Owner:
As a relative newcomer to the Borough, I was befriended by Bill Scott, who helped introduce me to this great community. What I learned is that, for Bill, life is all about service and community. Whether that means friends, politics or the very structures of this town, it's about community. It all connects for him, and he helps connect us to each other.
Because of my friendship with Bill, I find myself more involved with my adopted community. Thanks largely to Bill, I got so involved that I joined neighborhood groups. I volunteered for political causes. I worked on campaigns for Councilperson Holly Brown, State Representative Barb McIlvaine Smith, State Senator Andy Dinniman and, of course, for Barack Obama.
Now, Bill is the candidate. And I'm proud to once more be working for him and for this community.
Jim Salvas Campaign Manager, Bill Scott for Mayor
03/26/2009, Holly V. Brown, Borough of West Chester Borough Council Member, Ward 1:
I personally wanted to show my support for Bill Scott for Mayor. Having worked with Bill for over 15 years on many Borough issues, I can't think of a person more qualified to be Mayor of this great town.
Holly Brown Borough Council Member, Ward 1
03/26/2009, Margaret Swisher, Wayne 1998 Secretary, League of Women Voters, Radnor Township:
I am so enthusiastic about Bill's candidacy for Mayor, I am reposting my comments from April of 07. So please consider them as current for March 26, 2009. Great campaign photography. Also, I need your autograph!
4/7/2007, In 1998, I was Secretary for the League of Women Voters of Radnor Township. At that time, I was impressed by Bill's drive and dedication as he lead the fight against a proposed ordinance that would have allowed unlimited building height in down town West Chester. To show our regard and appreciation, I attended a West Chester Borough Council meeting and had the honor of presenting Bill with a copy of "Save Our Land, Save Our Towns" by Thomas Hylton, another champion who supports preservation of our heritage.

The Mayor of West Chester presents the 'face' of West Chester both to those who live in the Borough and those who don't. Bill Scott has two sets of sound qualifications for this role.
First, his character. Bill has a warm heart, a generous spirit, a sincere interest in the concerns of others, and a time-tested, trustworthy commitment to the welfare of the Borough and its residents.
Second, his experience. Bill and Linda have lived and raised their family in different sections of the Borough. Bill served on Borough Council for eight years including as President of Council, so he well understands the workings of Borough government.
During his term in office, he sponsored and supported legislation to protect the interests of many of the deserving, but less powerful people in the Borough.
Bill has every personal and public service qualification to be Mayor, and I will be proud to see him in that office as well as intrigued to see what his cheerful sense of humor will bring to the position.
Lynette McGrath Ph.D. Professor Emerita, West Chester University
03/23/2009, Bill Holmes, Malvern East Whiteland Township Supervisor:
I believe in the adage that people are measured for what they give in life and not what they get. Bill Scott's entire life has been one of service; service to his country, service to his family and service to the Borough of West Chester. Bill takes all things seriously except himself, which is a quality that has always allowed Bill to focus on doing good with little concern about looking good.
Bill's endless reservoir of optimism drives him to think big while his experience gives him the ability to make big things happen.
It is this unique combination of selflessness, enthusiasm and experience that will benefit all residents of West Chester if they elect Bill Scott as the next Mayor of West Chester.
Bill Holmes, East Whiteland Township Supervisor
03/23/2009, Mark Stevens, Exton Executive Director, Pennsylvania eHealth Initiative:
I had the pleasure of working with Bill Scott and Kathi Cozzone during their joint run for Chester County Commissioner. That tells you something about both Kathi and Bill to have run the first coop campaign in County history.
Fifteen years ago, I also had the pleasure of working for Tom Menino, the Mayor of Boston, and I can tell you that Bill has the same unwavering devotion, energy and passion for his City.
Bill is that rare individual that brings all the necessary ingredients for not only being a successful Mayor, but being a transformative one. In these historic times, West Chester needs someone who is up to the task. For Mayor, West Chester needs Bill Scott.
Mark Stevens, Executive Director, Pennsylvania eHealth Initiative

Bill, I live in Wallace Twp, so I can't vote for you, but I PROMISE I will spread the word to my friends who live, work, and own property in West Chester. I am forwarding this message to them, and will subject them to relentless nagging.
Your candidacy is a great opportunity for the Borough; I hope you succeed.
01/01/2009, Leo Scoda, Phoenixville Mayor, Borough of Phoenixville:
Bill, Congratulations on your decision to run for Mayor of West Chester. You will make a great mayor, one who will serve the citizens well.

Chester County needs new leadership and vision to secure its future by preserving its character, natural beauty and historic past. Taxpayers should also be sure to choose fiscally responsible candidates who can be excellent stewards of their tax dollars.
Bill Scott [is one of] the qualified and dedicated leaders that Chester County needs.

Bill, now that your term is coming to a close, I wanted to tell you I have enjoyed working with you these past four years on behalf of the library. You have been one of our biggest supporters on Council, and I am
not exaggerating when I say we would not have been able to complete our
renovation project without the support of a small group of people, of which
you are one. Your wise counsel and unstinting help and support have aided us
immeasurably, and I speak for the entire board in expressing our gratitude
and wishing you the best of success in all your future endeavors.
I also wanted to tell you that I personally am gratified by the kindness and courtesy which I have always received at Council, and elsewhere when we've been together. I hope we'll have a chance to "cross paths" again in the West Chester area and perhaps work together again in a common cause. Please visit the library often to enjoy the magnificent facility which you had a hand in improving and preserving. Thanks again for everything.
Regards, Howard Sundwall
